Great-Grandma Dora May was cool. She was in her 80’s when I first got to know her and my Great-Grandfather. Bowling trophies lined the curio cabinet shelves and she had a wall-hanging with tons of shiny pins assembled in the shape of a Christmas tree that lit up. It was a permanent fixture. She always had the TV on, watching sports. She broke stereotypes and I loved it! She especially loved watching the Salt Lake Bees (baseball) and her Utah Jazz (basketball). She wasn’t just any fan. She kept notebooks with stats on each player and always had an update on the status of the latest tournament.
This pattern is a subtle nod to her love of sports. You’ll notice plenty of circles and curves to mimic sports balls. The sashing around Block A reminds me of baseball diamonds to celebrate her love of baseball.
